Description

This Tibetan votive clay tsa-tsa represents Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of abundance, prosperity and beauty, a figure who is also revered in tantric Buddhist contexts of the Himalayas. Handmade by Tibetan artisans, this medium-sized tsa-tsa is moulded in ritual clay and retains the marks of traditional devotional work.

Tsa-tsas are small moulded offerings, placed in shrines, caves and altars as part of spiritual practice in Tibet and other Buddhist regions. This particular piece was crafted for votive purposes, as an act of merit, protection or personal devotion. Its style reflects the iconic patterns of the region, with a frontal representation of Lakshimi seated in lotus posture, surrounded by symbols of spiritual and earthly wealth.

The surface has a rustic and authentic texture, typical of pieces made with unglazed natural clay, which accentuates its spiritual character and its value as a ritual object.
